New Ownership of a Creative Architectural Elements and More Boutique in Downtown Charleston

Let your imagination run wild. OR if yours is limited, chat with Jeff about his brilliant ideas for the exciting treasure trove of old discards they have uncovered in this large space that runs from room to room and then spills outdoors. Jeff and Randy bought the business, called Architectural Antiques and Design from a friend in November 2009. At the time it was treasure upon treasure piled one on top of another and all mingled with no sense of order or chronology. They have been painstakingly sorting, moving, creating pier tables and consoles among other things, and adding their own wonderful creations since then, and still have a way to go.

This is a dream of a place to concoct your own individual furniture and art for your condo in Charleston. What could be more fun than that, rather than buying antiques to mimic your neighbor? In a short visit this morning, along with Jeff's help, I had envisioned for my own townhouse pier tables with wrought iron fronts, majolica tiles dancing around my kitchen walls, a headboard made from iron fences, tables and garden seats made from elegant hunks of concrete, fab candle stands from columns and newel posts, and wonderful ways to display art from the gazillion window frames.

Take old Charleston shutters and make a knock-out bookshelf. Match up granite with early 20th C wrought iron window covers for ever so smart bedside tables. Dig through the boxes of majollica tiles and make pavers as Jeff suggested. What could be more individualistic?

The store does't stop at architectural elements. There are tons of antiquated tchotchka for the person who loves to dig around. China, knobs and hinges, real old fashioned furniture, gidgets and gadgets, art framed and unframed, old doors, window frames, and more. Play with the design ideas in your own head, then head for Jeff to guide you through the rest.

This truly original boutique is located behind an inconspicuous storefront not far from downtown. Go play with the past and you'll be surprised at yourself and your unique condo!
