Charleston Wins Title of Best Tennis Town in the US
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 4:13AM The contingency of tennis players from Charleston were on the edge of their seats this year at The US Open In New York. And not necessarily because of Nadal. Federer, and Clisters.
They had been waiting on pins and needles for the big announcement after we were included in the 10 finalists from a group of 82 entries across the US. When Atlanta and Richmond were announced as second and third, the big wigs from the state started dancing a jig.
With the Family Circle Cup gracing our fabulous complex at Daniel Island, and the many excellent facilities throughout the area, Charleston can now really boast and brag. And a little plus. The prestigious award came with a $100,000 USTA check!
